The formalization of the arrival of Djamel Belmadi’s successor at the head of the Algerian selection would be imminent.

After Algeria’s new fiasco at the African Cup of Nations, Djamel Belmadi was dismissed from his position. To succeed him, many names have circulated, like those of Zinedine Zidane, Hervé Renard and Carlos Queiroz.

Finally, the Algerian federation decided to bet on Vladimir Petkovic. After obtaining his Algerian visa, the former coach of the Girondins de Bordeaux would be expected in Algiers by Thursday at the latest to initial his contract, according to La Gazette du Fennec.

A two and a half year contract would await Vladimir Petkovic in Algeria. His mission will be to qualify the Greens for the quarter-finals of the next CAN, but also for the 2026 World Cup.
