Serie A: Fiorentina overthrows Lazio Rome

A year 2024, to say the least, complicated for the Viola. With only two small victories in this new year, Fiorentina had to relaunch this Monday with the reception of Lazio Rome at the end of the 26th day. A meeting which promised to be complicated given the dynamics of Vincenzo Italiano’s troops and the current good form of their opponents. And despite a clear domination in the first period, it was the capital club which took the advantage thanks to Luis Alberto on a nice serve from Matteo Guendouzi (0-1, 45th).

Finally, the appearance of the meeting was respected upon returning from the locker room. As insistent as ever, the locals equalized thanks to young defender Michael Kayode (1-1, 61st). But while Nicolas Gonzalez missed his penalty a few minutes earlier for the men in purple, it was Giacomo Bonaventura, an opportunist, who allowed them to take the advantage in this meeting (2-1, 69th). With this deserved success, Fiorentina regains color and overtakes its evening opponent by settling in seventh place. Disappointing, Lazio therefore drops to eighth place.
