Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino did not like the comments made by the famous consultant during the League Cup final.

Mauricio Pochettino missed the opportunity to raise his 1er trophy with Chelsea losing in the League Cup final against Liverpool. At the end of the meeting, his feelings were divided between sadness and anger. Anger directed towards a TV commentator.

Gary Neville, the famous Sky journalist, sparked his displeasure. After Virgil Van Dijk scored the decisive goal in the 118the minute, the former MU player described the Blues’ sum of individuality as a “billion-pound work of art”, beaten by “Klopp’s kids”.

Pochettino deplores unfair criticism

The Argentine coach therefore did not appreciate his comments. He admitted his team’s energy dropped in overtime while the Reds found a second wind thanks to their youth.

“I didn’t hear what he said but if you compare the age of the two groups I think it’s similar,” he said when asked how Neville called his team. “I have a good relationship with Gary and I don’t know how I can take it, but I respect his opinion. Of course we made a few changes like (Conor) Gallagher and (Ben) Chilwell in extra time, but it’s true that we didn’t keep the energy we needed and that’s how we finished the second half. I don’t know how to describe this situation, but I’m proud of the players, I think they made a great effort.”

“We are a young team and there is nothing to compare with Liverpool, who also finished with some young players. It’s impossible to compare and he knows it. He knows the dynamic is completely different. I don’t think it’s fair to speak that way if he really said that. But we will stay strong and believe in this project and see what we can do in the future.”added the former PSG coach.
