Convicted by the Spanish courts of sexual assault, Dani Alves (40 years old) will spend four and a half years in prison. As a result of this trial, some residents of Juazeiro, his hometown, have already requested the removal of a statue bearing his likeness. But that’s not all, since FC Barcelona is also ready to make a similar decision.

As stated Sport, Barça stripped Dani Alves of his status as a legend of the Catalan club. A title held only by 102 players who have worn the Blaugrana jersey since the creation of the club on November 29, 1899. Jordi Alba, Sergio Busquets and Gerard Piqué being the latest to join a list dominated by the club’s founder, Joan Gamper. Barça wanted to wait until Dani Alves’ conviction for sexual assault was final to make the decision.
