Real Madrid star Antonio Rüdiger admits his career could have turned out very differently if he had completed his move to Paris Saint-Germain in 2020.

The Germany international is a vital part of Los Blancos’ defense, but his previous career destined him for Paris rather than Madrid. Rüdiger found himself playing a supporting role under Frank Lampard at Chelsea in the 2019/20 season and he seemed certain to leave at the time.
However, as no transfer materialised, the player remained at Stamford Bridge, with Lampard replaced mid-season by Thomas Tuchel.

The move marked a turning point for Rüdiger, as Tuchel relied on him during the second half of the campaign and Chelsea won the Champions League.
In an exclusive interview with Goal.com, the defender confirmed that he wanted to join Tuchel in Paris, but it was ultimately in London that they joined forces.

A failed transfer to PSG

I really wanted to leave and join Thomas Tuchel at PSG, that was my wish. But that didn’t happen and six months later, Tuchel came from PSG to Chelsea.did he declare.
“We then won the Champions League together. We then won the Champions League together.

“I had a lot of good coaches. But if I had to choose one, it would be Tuchel. His honesty suited me. And then, when I see his tactical understanding, I say to myself that it’s a good thing: Wow! » Rudiger has already won four trophies at Real Madrid, including the 2024 Spanish Supercopa in January, and he is on course to clinch his first La Liga title at the end of the season.
