La Liga president Javier Tebas has spoken out about Real Madrid’s interest in Kylian Mbappé.

Los Blancos are close to completing a deal to bring the French team captain from Paris Saint-Germain to Madrid this summer. Mbappé has confirmed his intention to leave PSG when his contract expires at the end of the season, and Madrid is his main option.

Neither side has confirmed a deal at this stage, with discussions continuing between Real Madrid and Mbappé’s representatives. Tebas said a deal was “99% complete” and that Real Madrid were ready to offer Mbappé a huge contract at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium.
Despite fears that the Frenchman’s salary could push Real Madrid to break financial fair play rules, Tebas assured that this was not the case and that other recruitments were possible.

“Real is in optimal health”

“Real Madrid is a club that is in an optimal economic situation,” he said according to Diario AS. Real Madrid have been very careful financially and have prepared for the signing of Mbappé. They don’t need to sell anyone to afford Mbappé.”

With both teams still in contention in the Champions League this season, it is likely a decision will be delayed until they can no longer meet in the competition.
Both teams are in a good position to reach the quarter-finals next month, with Real Madrid having a lead over RB Leipzig in the round of 16 first leg, and PSG having a 2-0 advantage over Real Sociedad.
