If he had the chance, the PSG coach would play two teams in one.

On Sunday, Paris Saint-Germain will host Stade Rennais, at 5:05 p.m. at the Parc des Princes, on the occasion of the 23rd day of Ligue 1. On the eve of this meeting, Luis Enrique presented himself at a press conference. The Spanish technician was notably questioned about the rotation of his workforce.

And visibly, he seems proud of the uncertainty surrounding his team compositions. “Can you guess the starting eleven? I am not sure. My goal is to have 22 starting players. I know it’s impossible, but that’s my goal. I want to have two players per position. If I know that I am calm for two matches, the other will play and if he plays well, I have to get back to my level”the former Spain coach told journalists.

“Competition is essential”

Luis Enrique makes a point of maintaining competition between his men. “When a player doesn’t play, he can give up. But above all not, he must fight. There needs to be competition, rivalry. This is essential, this is what I try to generate in all my teams. Our objective is collective, so that PSG supporters can see a team that is fighting”assures the native of Gijón.

Luis Enrique is a fan of the culture of secrecy around his starting eleven. The players only learn a few hours before the match whether they will start or not. Even during training oppositions, he tries not to reveal his intentions too much.
