Taylor Swift and Real Madrid, scandal in sight

Real Madrid are asking to bring forward their last La Liga match of the season against Real Betis in order to organize a second Taylor Swift concert. This makes Merengues supporters as much as those of other clubs cringe.

At Real Madrid, bringing in Taylor Swift is visibly more important than the end of the Merengues season… As revealed The Athleticthe club chaired by Florentino Pérez sent a letter to the Spanish league in order to bring forward its 38th and final league meeting of the season, with the reception of Real Betis at the Bernabéu, Saturday May 25 or Sunday May 26.

The reason is simple: tickets for the 34-year-old American singer’s concert in the huge Casa Blanca venue on Thursday, May 30, were sold within a few minutes. Faced with this immense success, Real Madrid is planning to organize a second concert by Taylor Swift, who has four days off between her show in Lisbon on the 25th and that in Madrid on the 30th…

Four days to transform the Bernabéu

The magnificent renovated Santiago-Bernabéu needs four days to move into concert configuration, in order to accommodate 65,000 people (for comparison, the Stade de France manages to bring in nearly 80,000 people in concert mode). The timing is therefore too tight if Carlo Ancelotti’s band plays on Sunday afternoon before a possible Taylor Swift concert the following Tuesday.

Last year, Javier Tebas’ La Liga scheduled matches on Sunday in two slots, at 6:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., grouping the matches by issue. Real Madrid may already be champions of Spain, but their fans would prefer to celebrate the title at the weekend and not on a Thursday or Friday evening. Betis, currently 7th in the standings, will perhaps play a European qualifier.
