When negotiating his contract with Real Madrid, Kylian Mbappé notably asked that he receive a few additional million in the event of victory in the Ballon d’Or.
Unofficially leaving Paris Saint-Germain to join the ranks of Real Madrid next summer, Kylian Mbappé is nonetheless filling the news, particularly on the other side of the Pyrenees. After years of waiting, punctuated by enormous disappointments, such as during his unexpected turnaround and his extension in 2022 with Paris, Mbappé is the center of attention of the specialized media. While numerous figures linked to his future contract are now circulating, the Bondynois is more than ever a source of speculation and supposition.
To a lesser degree – although we must remain relative – Kylian Mbappé is also being talked about in France and this Friday, Foot Mercato revealed a revelation concerning a bonus that the striker would have negotiated with the president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez. The specialized media thus mentioned a certain amount that the French international could receive in the event of winning the Ballon d’Or. Sources close to the Merengue club have mentioned a figure which could reach fifteen million euros.
A Ballon d’Or worth fifteen million?
A huge amount, but a practice which is actually not new at Real since Karim Benzema was, for example, entitled to a bonus of one million euros after lifting his Ballon d’Or in 2022. FM added that the former Madrid player who left for Al-Ittihad last summer had also obtained a one-year contract extension. For Kylian Mbappé, the amount is therefore very largely reassessed, but this could be explained by the concessions made, particularly in terms of salary.
Paid every month at a high price by Paris Saint-Germain, the former AS Monaco player agreed to lower his salary to join Madrid, but the compensation negotiated between the two parties would have been numerous, so that the player finds himself partly there. This Ballon d’Or clause would not be the least of them.
