The probable arrival of Kylian Mbappé at Real Madrid does not seem to enchant everyone in the Spanish capital.

After seven years in the capital, Kylian Mbappé has therefore decided to leave PSG and there is little doubt that the French world champion is preparing to join Real Madrid. According to numerous media in Spain, the former Monegasque has already signed his contract, a five-year lease expected to bring him 15 million euros net annually and accompanied by a signing bonus estimated at 50 million .

Despite his about-face in spring 2022, Madrid supporters are obviously delighted with the scheduled arrival of the Bondynois. Some voices are nevertheless being heard expressing reservations. And not least. Questioned on the subject, the mayor of the Spanish capital was very circumspect. “Mbappé? We don’t need it to win here in Madrid,” thus launched José Luis Martinez Almeida at the microphone of El Chiringuito TV.

The Galactic Age has left its mark

And while Real is at the top of La Liga and has already taken an option for the quarter-final of the Champions League, the city councilor is not the only one not to get excited. The same goes for Ivan Helguera, former midfielder and central defender at Real Madrid. The double winner of the Champions League (2000, 2002) remembers too well the first era of the Galacticos at Real Madrid and the lack of balance from which the Merengue suffered then.

It’s wonderful to have all these players, but you have to know how to balance them with a good group. What went wrong back then? The balance. There were a lot of players going forward and the back and forth wasn’t easy… I was a defender, it was very difficult to defend with that type of player. We need a balance between players who are going up and those who are going down,” he warned in the columns of Marca.
