A surprise manager for Liverpool?

For the succession of Jürgen Klopp, the leaders of Liverpool have a priority target in the person of Xabi Alonso, but plan B would be the young Portuguese strategist Ruben Amorim.

Xabi Alonso is a particularly popular coach. While his Bayer Leverkusen is heading towards the Bundesliga title, the former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder will have the choice to stay in his position, join the German juggernaut that is Bayern and above all take over from Jürgen Klopp on the Reds bench. This is definitely the preference of the German coach who will soon be on vacation!

Liverpool have made Xabi Alonso their priority track, but since nothing is done, a shortlist has been put together. According to The IndependentRoberto De Zerbi is not the Liverpool management’s plan B, the Italian coach being particularly attracted by the possibility of replacing Xavi at the head of FC Barcelona.

Amorim in the big leagues?

It is the Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim who would be in the good books of Liverpool FC. At 39, the former Benfica midfielder (he was international 14 times) is a coach with a bright future. A perfect strategist since his arrival at Sporting in 2020, he helped the Lisbon team win the Portuguese Liga in 2021 as well as two national cups.

In May 2022, Amorim was Luis Campos’ priority for the position of PSG coach to succeed Mauricio Pochettino. Christophe Galtier was finally chosen to lead Kylian Mbappé’s Rouge et Bleu.
