French football mourned by the disappearance of Artur Jorge.

The world of football is mourning the loss of former Paris Saint-Germain coach, Artur Jorge, who died this Thursday at the age of 78 following a long illness. This man, who left an indelible mark on both Portuguese and French football, leaves behind a remarkable legacy and a lasting influence on the teams he guided.

A former Portuguese international striker, Artur Jorge had a rich and varied coaching career, leaving his mark notably at the helm of Matra Racing, Benfica and FC Porto, with whom he won the 1987 European Champion Clubs’ Cup.

However, it was above all his first stint at Paris Saint-Germain from 1991 to 1994 that distinguished him, marked by winning the French champion title in 1994, the second in the history of the Rouge et Bleu. He also had the honor of leading the national teams of Portugal, Switzerland and Cameroon.

The family of Artur Jorge announced his death, stating: “It is with deep sadness that the family of Artur Jorge announces his death this morning in Lisbon, after a long illness. He died peacefully, surrounded by his closest family. »
