The Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra did not hide her sadness at seeing Kylian Mbappé leave the French championship, but wished him good luck for the rest of his career.

If nothing is official yet, there is no room for doubt. At the end of his contract on June 30 with Paris Saint-Germain, Kylian Mbappé announced to his president Nasser Al-Khelaïfi his choice to leave the capital club at the end of the season. A decision that he also shared with his teammates just after the Parisians’ victory over Real Sociedad in the Champions League (2-0). And there is little doubt about his future destination: barring any surprises, the kid from Bondy will sign up for free with Real Madrid.

Traveling to Rennes this Thursday, to visit the production factory for Olympic Games soft toys, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra spoke about Mbappé’s departure. If it means “something” to see the biggest star of French football leave Ligue 1, the Minister of Sports wanted to wish the 25-year-old striker good luck for the rest of his career.

“It always does something”

It is true that there, clearly, there is a page that is being turned, she declared on RMC Sport. First of all, I remember everything wonderful he brought to this championship. In Ligue 1, he was clearly one of the most notable heroes of recent years. I think we should wish him good luck and continued success in his career. I do not forget, Minister of Sports, that he remains the captain of the France team and with magnificent deadlines in this year 2024. I am obviously thinking of the Euro but I am also thinking of the prospect of the Olympics. All this is there to make us happy. I think we’re lucky to have a really great guy with him. We must send him our thoughts and all our goodwill. »

And the government member added: “When you have a talent of this caliber, it always does something. But I think that, wherever he is in the world, he makes France shine. Once again, having him at the heart of our French team and seeing him carry through these challenges that are before us, it will be an immense privilege for all of us and a great joy to continue to admire him on the pitch. »
