The emblematic player of Olympique Lyonnais and the French team confided that she has a man in her life.
At 33 years old, if like all the Blues, Wendie Renard is still chasing her first title with the French team and hopes for consecration during the Olympic Games this summer, the central defender of Olympique Lyonnais can boast of the finest track record in French women’s football. As she competes for her 17the season with Fenottes, the Martinican has already compiled no less than 16 French championship titles and eight Champions League crowns.
The OL captain is no less secretive about her private life. In her autobiography published in 2019, the Lyonnaise spoke forcefully about the disappearance of her father, who died of devastating cancer when she was only eight years old. “I will never forget the discussion my father and I had, face to face in his room. He knows it’s over and wants to send us one last message. He told me things about my future, which I put into practice. I see today that these things have come true. I have always had stars on my path to guide me”, she wrote, explaining to Audience : “ My father was in politics and it was during a conference that he breathed something that burned his lungs. He didn’t consult it, thinking it would go away. Having two cancers when you’ve never smoked or drank is surprising. My father left three weeks later. »
“I have someone in my life”
Wendie Renard, on the other hand, maintains secrecy about her private life. “I have someone in my life, but this is my secret garden. Just as nothing prevents me from having a child. But here, I am in my career”, she nevertheless confided on this occasion, never appearing in public with her companion.
Deprived of her father, Wendie Renard was able to count on the unwavering support of her advisor, Fred Labiche, whom she met upon her arrival in Lyon and also originally from Martinique. “My leadership also comes from the people I have worked with. When I arrived in Lyon, I came across my advisor Fred Labiche”, she told Ouest-France in 2022 before citing the names of several Lyon players including Sydney Govou and Joan Hartock. The 65-year-old advisor is also involved in various real estate or image management companies, for which they share the same domicile.
