Real Madrid have been warned to be careful before signing a big name like Kylian Mbappé as the striker’s arrival is no guarantee of success.

The Spanish giants are reportedly close to agreeing a deal to sign the French striker after he informed Paris Saint-Germain that he would leave the club at the end of his contract at the end of the season. His signing could mark the start of a new galactic era for Madrid, like the time when Luis Figo, Zinédine Zidane, Ronaldo and David Beckham signed together. However, former Madrid star Ivan Helguera has warned that the Galacticos may not live up to their potential.

The former Spain international expressed his fears during an event organized by La Liga and DAZN: “ What happens is that we have to see the mistakes that were made, there were a lot of numbers and very good players… but nothing was won. In Madrid it is important to win every year. It’s wonderful to have all these players, but you have to know how to balance a good group. If Mbappé came to Real Madrid, it would be an impressive signing and it would be difficult to beat him.

Mbappé, it’s only just begun

Mbappé would join a team that already boasts players like Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Junior, Federico Valverde, Eduardo Camavinga and Aurélien Tchouameni, as well as veterans Luka Modric and Toni Kroos. Despite the qualities available to Carlo Ancelotti, the Santiago Bernabéu team failed to win La Liga or the Champions League last season.

The capital club are expected to win the Spanish league title this season, and could also secure their 15th European crown, while looking to bring Mbappé to the Santiago Bernabéu during the summer transfer window.
