Sensitive to the issue of image rights and intellectual property, Kylian Mbappé has taken the lead on these subjects recently.

Kylian Mbappé leaves nothing to chance. Very keen on questions of image rights, in the French team in particular, the captain of the Blues also ensures current ownership for the few memes for which he can claim paternity.

This is the case of his famous celebration, arms crossed after a small jump, feet firmly anchored in the lawn. A gesture of its own and which has been the subject of a request for protection of rights to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) in the past.

“Football has changed” soon to be registered trademark

To this trademark are now added two famous phrases from the Parisian striker: “You don’t talk to me about age” and “Football has changed”. Two expressions now filed with the EUIPO. “ Clearly, he no longer wants us to make money off his back », notes for RMC, an intellectual property consultancy firm.

Legal monitoring is carried out constantly by companies. If they realize that their image has been used, they can file a complaint » it is specified. The restrictions, if the protection is indeed validated by the EUIPO examiner, will however only be valid in Europe.
