Before even setting foot in Madrid, Kylian Mbappé would have had a dispute with his future management of Real Madrid.
The relationship between Kylian Mbappé and Real Madrid has already hit a snag even before the PSG striker was officially a member of Carlo Ancelotti’s team. At least according to information coming from Spain Spain.
The player has reportedly agreed to join Real Madrid on a free transfer this summer, and some sources say the France international has even signed his contract, but there are tensions between the two parties.
Mbappé and Casa Blanca disagree on one point
Daily newspaper AS suggests the 25-year-old French striker is keen to take part in the Olympics, which will take place in his hometown of Paris in early August. However, this coincides with Real Madrid’s tour of the United States.
One of PSG’s main arguments when Mbappe signed his contract with them in 2022 was that they would allow him to play in the competition, which closely follows Euro 2024. It has even been suggested that Mbappe could have the the honor of being his country’s flag bearer during the opening ceremony.
France, for its part, is looking to take the competition very seriously, as three of its main stars, Antoine Griezmann, Raphaël Varane and Mbappé, are strongly tipped to be designated as authorized major players in what is above all a competition for under 23s.
Mbappé has also expressed his desire to play in the Olympics. “Everyone knows that I have always dreamed of playing in the Olympic Games. Afterwards, it doesn’t depend on me, there are a lot of parameters that come into play,” he declared.
Real does not intend to give in to Mbappé
As the competition is managed by the IOC and not FIFA, clubs are not obliged to send their stars for this event, which leaves the door open for Real Madrid to refuse any request from Mbappe to participate in the tournament.
Added to this is the question of rest. The European Championship takes place from June 14 to July 14, while the Olympic tournament takes place from July 24 to August 9. Mbappé would therefore not have a summer vacation and, crucially for Real Madrid, he would not have the opportunity to integrate with his new teammates.
This delicate issue is not the best way for Real Madrid and Mbappé to begin their new relationship, and it is certain that one of the two parties will be unhappy in the end.
