In search of its new coach, OM turned to Jean-Louis Gasset, for a mission until the end of the campaign.
Often announced among the preferential targets of OM, Christophe Galtier was not surveyed, according to an indiscretion signed RMC, to succeed Gennaro Gattuso. Privately, the former PSG boss says he is happy in Qatar where he has led the Al-Duhail team since last October. Galtier today remains focused on the second half of his team’s campaign.
So is this the end of the Marseille dream? Not so sure… OM could return to the charge in June. The Olympian leaders, Pablo Longoria in the lead, as well as Stéphane Tessier the general director, appreciate the man and his tactical qualities. And many members of the current Olympian staff are reputed to be Galtier’s porches.
A track to reactivate?
After Marcelino’s departure, the former ASSE boss was contacted, before refusing. The accusations of racism he was subjected to bothered him. Other rumors are resonating, claiming that the coach also had doubts about the quality of the Marseille squad this season.
The leaders of OM knew this – again according to the same source – and therefore did not insist on this file, but the file could be reopened at the end of the current financial year. We haven’t heard the last of Galtier’s comeback.
