On the move again following their Champions League match against PSG at the Parc des Princes, Real Sociedad had to relaunch in Mallorca in the league after almost a month without a victory. The match started very badly for Imanol Alguacil’s men, conceding a goal from Antonio Sanchez very quickly in the match with a volley from the left (4th). After six games without scoring, an eternity for the Basque club, Takefusa Kubo freed his team by equalizing after a solitary raid (38th). The story may have turned out well for Real with the exclusion of Antonio Rallo before half-time. The historic Mallorca player received two consecutive yellow cards for arguing too much with the referee.
The Basques have long been clumsy in front of goal. They also came up against Predrag Rajkovic, author of three saves. We had to wait until the last moments of the match and a header from Mikel Merino to see Sociedad take the lead (90th + 3). This victory, acquired at the end of the match, leaves the Mallorcans in a delicate position in the ranking with a 16th place. The Saint-Sebastien club is finally progressing and securing its sixth European place. Mallorca and Real Sociedad will meet again quickly, in 10 days for the second leg of the Copa del Rey semi-finals. In the first leg, they ended in a draw (0-0).
