PSG: what future for Luis Campos?

It’s decided, I’m leaving you. Between Kylian Mbappé and Paris Saint-Germain, the love story is indeed about to end. Top scorer in the history of the club, central pillar of the Parisian team and striker coveted by the entire football world in recent seasons, the French international (75 caps, 46 goals) has finally made his decision. The Bondynois, who will leave an indelible mark in the City of Lights, announced to Nasser Al-Khelaïfi that he was going to leave the Rouge et Bleu at the end of the season. At the end of his contract next June and as we exclusively revealed to you, the 1m78 striker will continue his career with Real Madrid. The end of an era for the reigning French champion and many consequences to come…

With this in mind, this transfer – announced several years ago – will considerably modify the Parisian and Madrid daily newspapers. “We want to continue to place the institution above everything else. There are already plans to sign new players. We are going to extend Warren Zaire-Emery (under contract until 2025 and who will be promoted by the club) and we have the means to have a team which will be very competitive”, assured, in this sense, the upper echelons of the Ile-de-France team, already ready to live without their star. Far from the new Parisian mantra, the team coached by Carlo Ancelotti will, for its part, work to best integrate the 2018 world champion into a collective already stocked with multiple talented players.

Real Madrid (still) think of Luis Campos…

One thing is certain, this departure of Kylian Mbappé will leave a big void in France. A certain snub for Nasser Al-Khelaïfi – and more generally QSI – inevitably disappointed with such an outcome after having found the right words in recent months to convince the person concerned to return to PSG. An outcome that therefore questions the place of Luis Campos within the Parisian team. Arriving in 2022, can the Portuguese football advisor resist such a failure? Will his future be called into question, he who has sometimes annoyed his choices on the transfer market? Difficult, for the moment, to plan ahead. On the other hand and according to our latest information, the name of the former sports director of AS Monaco returns, once again, to the Merengues side.

Already announced in the viewfinder of Casa Blanca two years ago – he was close to joining the Madrid team before seeing Kylian Mbappé extend his lease with the current leader of Ligue 1 – the one who is, today, fully focused on the Ile-de-France project after ending his adventure with Celta de Vigo, therefore still finds himself cited in the Madrid offices. Still according to our indiscretions, the idea of seeing the Lusitanian return to Real Madrid (where he has already been in 2010 and 2013) and thus follow Kylian Mbappé is therefore a real possibility. A scenario which does not (yet) suggest a departure in the coming weeks but Real has not abandoned the idea. To be continued…
