Presnel Kimpembe used his social networks to draw attention to what he describes as “a genocide” in eastern Congo.

Players from the Democratic Republic of Congo drew attention to the issue during the Africa Cup of Nations, with one hand over their mouth and the other hand miming a gun to their head. Presnel Kimpembe, whose father is Congolese, also decided to join the movement to denounce what has been happening in the country for several months.

“The situation is inhumane. Silence is unacceptable, denounces the French international. A genocide is currently taking place in eastern Congo, lives are being taken every day. Women, men and children live in unimaginable conditions and suffer atrocities to the point of losing their lives. I do not speak only as a Congolese through my father but out of humanity. It is our mothers and our children who die every day in this massacre, it is essential to talk about it so that things change. »

A thought ” to all people who suffer genocides”

“I also take this opportunity to send a sincere thought to all the people who are suffering genocides throughout the world, there are no lives more important than others”adds the 2018 world champion, in a message of peace.

Seriously injured in his Achilles tendon at the end of last season, Presnel Kimpembe is still treating this injury, after having undergone a new operation a few months ago. He is not expected to play again until the start of next season with PSG.
