Mbappé, an incomprehensible announcement

Kylian Mbappé’s decision to leave PSG earned him severe criticism. Both in substance and form.

This time, it’s well and truly over. Although it will undoubtedly be necessary to wait several more weeks to see PSG and the person concerned formalize their separation, Kylian Mbappé has therefore decided to leave the capital club and made it known this Tuesday to Nasser Al-Khelaïfi. An irrevocable decision which unsurprisingly provokes strong reactions.

Rolland Courbis, who had recently stated that he was convinced that the Bondynois would return to the capital’s club, expressed his surprise and criticized the choice of the former Monegasque. “I didn’t expect, in Mbappé’s situation, that he would announce it in mid-February, in a season that is not over. The Champions League is not overhe confided to the microphone of RMC. If he were to leave, I thought it was last offseason (2023) that he would announce it, one year from the end of his contract and not mid-February. I think this is abnormal, inelegant and reckless. »

It’s pretty average.

And the former coach of Olympique de Marseille envisages the worst for the top scorer in Ligue 1. “Before the Euro and the Olympics, I hope he doesn’t get injured because what he’s doing is dangerous. I have difficulty following and understanding”he continued, saying he was also disappointed “for French football, for TV rights”.

Rolland Courbis was not the only one to be surprised by the moment chosen by Kylian Mbappé. The same was true of Jean-Michel Larqué. “I find the timing very, very, very inappropriate,” he whispered, adding: “The fact that it leaks between two Champions League matches is pretty average. If the conversation is one-on-one, it’s not difficult to keep a secret between two people. There are some who may have an interest in the information getting out.”
