Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel launched a scathing attack on his team following the defeat to Lazio on Wednesday.

Harry Kane could do nothing to prevent Bayern from winning another trophy, in another defeat in Rome. Dayot Upamecano was sent off for a foul in the penalty area, and Ciro Immobile converted the penalty to give Lazio a 1-0 advantage to defend in Munich. Naturally, the pressure is increasing on Tuchel after this poor result and an even worse performance on the pitch, and the former Chelsea manager has been damning in his assessment of his team.

The German thus overwhelmed his players in front of journalists after the defeat: “No, I’m not worried about my future or possible dismissal. We did everything to lose this match. It was in our hands. At some point we stopped believing in it, I don’t know why. There were a lot of individual errors.”

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund, however, called for unity in these difficult times, as he told Sky Germany after the match: “It’s obvious he’s struggling with the situation, which is very difficult for all of us. Our goal is to fight together to get through this. We are all in this together.”

Bayern’s struggles on Wednesday night were compounded by the fact that the Munich club lost significant ground in the Bundesliga title race in their last match. Bayer Leverkusen, the surprise team of the season, won 3-0, taking a five-point lead after 21 days.
