How will PSG replace Kylian Mbappé?

The future of Kylian Mbappé is the soap opera that has driven the transfer windows and even the PSG season for three years now. However, this year is the right one. As we announced to you at the beginning of January, KM7 has decided to join Real Madrid this summer at the end of his contract. Information confirmed this Thursday by various media which explain that the player announced his departure from PSG to its president Nasser al-Khelaifi. After 7 years at the club, Kylian Mbappé will therefore continue his career outside France. A new project will therefore begin for him, but also and above all for Paris.

PSG will look towards England and Italy

From now on, the PSG QSI version will have to rebuild its workforce and its project which only revolved around the French international. President Nasser al-Khelaifi and sporting director Luis Campos had not hidden their desire to comply with Kylian Mbappé’s requests in building the squad (the search for a pivot, the arrivals of certain French internationals). But from now on, PSG will have to rebuild everything by finding KM7’s replacement. Obviously, finding his replacement, both on and off the field, will not be easy, if not impossible. Only Vinicius and Haaland seem to have a star status similar or almost to that of Mbappé. And the two players are not likely to move to PSG for the moment.

The Parisian management will therefore have to look at confirmed players, but less star-rated than this club has known. In this sense, certain names will be associated with PSG regularly in the coming weeks. On the Italian side, two players clearly seem to tick the boxes of potential replacements for Kylian Mbappé. They are Rafael Leão and Victor Osimhen. The Portuguese international has already been linked with PSG in recent months. Versatile on the attacking front and above all considered one of the references to his position, Leao, who passed through Lille, is a profile which could correspond to PSG. According to the Spanish press, PSG had already started to test the waters. For Osimhen, it is also the same case. The Napoli striker is a desired striker who has a profile that is rare in current football. While PSG will lack an offensive leader, the Nigerian could embody that, particularly tactically with his role as a pure central attacker. And his name already emerged this Thursday to succeed Mbappé.

Another star or room for young people?

To tactically replace the Frenchman, another profile has been mentioned in recent years and we should hear from him again in the coming weeks: Marcus Rashford. The England international has shown that he is capable of being brilliant and is one of the best in his position when in top form. In England, he remains probably the most influential player off the field too. As for Manchester United, after a successful last season, he is in difficulty and the possibility of a departure this summer exists even though he seemed set to extend a few months ago. At the age of 26, Rashford has also never hidden his interest in PSG, which he almost joined two seasons ago.

Another Premier League player had been mentioned at one point on the PSG side. And while he has been tormenting the English championship for almost 8 years, a departure this summer would not be so far-fetched. At Liverpool since 2017, Mohamed Salah could decide to look elsewhere, especially since his coach Jürgen Klopp announced that he would leave the club this summer. Last season, Saudi Arabia tried to snatch the Egyptian star from Liverpool. Without success. But PSG could have their move to play now and it would be a very big move which could well compensate at least for the departure of Kylian Mbappé. Especially since the English press had revealed that Mohamed Salah had not been insensitive to PSG for many years. Finally, another solution for PSG, that of trying to focus on a collective without much individuality and making room for young people by installing, for example, Xavi Simons on loan to Leipzig. But this might not please supporters who will necessarily expect big names for this summer. But we will also have to manage the cases of Randal Kolo Muani and Gonçalo Ramos. The two players occupy the number 9 position and this could therefore allow PSG not to specifically recruit for this position, especially since Kang-in Lee has already occupied the left lane. In short, the PSG QSI version is at a turning point in its project and will therefore have to rack its brains. And Luis Enrique could also have his say.
