The CAN final, between Nigeria and Ivory Coast, was broadcast unencrypted on Sunday evening.

Sunday evening, Ivory Coast won the third African Cup of Nations in its history, after 1992 and 2015, by beating Nigeria (2-1). The meeting was broadcast unencrypted on W9.

M6’s little sister canceled its original prime to broadcast this event. Commented by Xavier Domergue and Jean-Marc Ferreri, the epilogue of this CAN brought together 793,000 viewers between 9 p.m. and 10:59 p.m. on the TNT channel. 4.2% of the public and 6.0% of women responsible for purchases under the age of fifty attended the Elephants’ third coronation in this continental competition.

“2 billion” viewers worldwide

“We must be proud to have organized a competition of this qualityannounced the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), Patrice Motsepe, at a press conference before the final. We must give young people a future. Look at what the CAN is doing: so many emotions, it’s so beautiful. Nearly 2 billion people watched CAN 2023 around the world. We must be proud as Africans and the next edition will be even better. »

In France, the CAN final was however largely dominated in terms of audience by the cult comedy “Les Bronzés sont du ski”, broadcast on TF1. This film dating from 1979 attracted 5.09 million viewers on Sunday evening according to Médiamétrie.
