Jude Bellingham suffered an ankle injury during Real Madrid’s victory over Girona on Saturday night.

The English midfielder was injured in a collision with Pablo Torre and, although he played a few minutes, scoring in the process, he had to leave the field so as not to aggravate his case. On Sunday, Real Madrid confirmed that Bellingham suffered a sprain, which is expected to keep him out of action for 2-3 weeks. This means he will miss the Champions League last 16 first leg against RB Leipzig, as well as La Liga ties against Rayo Vallecano and Sevilla FC.

It’s a blow for Real Madrid and Bellingham, but as Diario AS reveals, it could have been much worse. According to the newspaper, it was just a millimeter before the ligaments of the tibiofibular joint were affected, which would have caused him to miss almost two months of training.

Ultimately, it’s only a minor sprain, which is a good thing for Real Madrid. The Madrilenians hope that they will not miss Bellingham too much during this period of unavailability
