While Kylian Mbappé remained on the substitutes’ bench throughout the match, PSG convincingly dominated Lille this Saturday (3-1).

PSG is ready for the resumption of the Champions League. Four days before his opposition against Real Sociedad, in the round of 16 first leg of the C1, the French champion did the job during his domestic outing against Lille. Facing a team that had held on to it 1-1 in the first leg, the Ile-de-France team won without too much difficulty 3-1. And the score seemed quite flattering for the Mastiffs.

Paris fulfilled its task, while several of its holders had been spared. Donnarumma, Marquinhos, Zaire-Emery and especially Mbappé, were all left on the bench at kick-off. Despite this significant turnover, the production produced was very satisfactory.

Mbappé was not missed at PSG

PSG impressed despite an unfavorable start to the match. Indeed, from the 6e minute, the home side found themselves with their backs against the wall after Yusuf Yazici converted a chance from close range following good work from Alexsandro. The same Alexsandro then became the author of a csc, deflecting a Parisian strike (17e). And in the meantime, Gonçalo Ramos had found the fault by exploiting an excellent ball offered by Ousmane Dembélé (10e).

In the absence of his sidekick at the forefront, Dembélé will have delivered a very great match. He and Bradley Barcola, his counterpart on the left, will have been poisons for the Northern defense. The former Lyon player did not miss either, but he delivered a caviar to Randal Kolo Muani (80e) for the break which relieved the entire Park.

Ousmane Dembélé had one of his best matches with PSG.

Chevalier limited the damage for Lille

It made it 3-1 and that was the final result of the game. A success that could have been more significant. If the Northerners did not collapse it is thanks to their goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier. The international hopeful notably intervened on a point-blank strike from Kolo Muani (73e) before neutralizing Barcola (86e).

By winning, Paris consolidates its leadership position in the Ligue 1 standings. The French champion has above all done what is necessary to approach his return to the continental scene in the best psychological circumstances. This was not the case for his future opponent.
