Fourth most capped player in the history of Paris Saint-Germain behind Jean-Marc Pilorget, Marquinhos and Marco Verratti, former red and blue defender Sylvain Armand gave an interview to Le Parisien.

The former left-back spoke on many subjects including his reconversion, his collaboration with Olivier Létang but above all returned to his long years in Paris.

During his last year at the club during the 2012-2013 season, the Frenchman knew the QSI version of PSG but especially a certain Carlo Ancelotti. Although he was no longer one of the starters, the 43-year-old enjoyed playing under the orders of “Mister.”

For him, PSG would have already been European champions if the Italian had stayed longer in the French capital. “If Carlo Ancelotti had stayed longer, Paris would, I think, already be European champions,” did he declare.

Armand validates the new Parisian policy

The 2012-2013 French champion also presented his point of view on the new management and policy of the capital club which now wishes to base its project on young players with fewer stars. “It seems like the right solution to me. When we compare with other teams like City, there are great players, we need them, but not only that. A team is a clever mix. That there is less bling-bling, as there may have been in the days of Neymar, Messi or Ramos, that is understandable. Today, PSG’s notoriety is well established. It is appropriate to attract complementary players. This was perhaps not the case last season with certain oversized egos. »
