Sergio Ramos is reportedly looking for a new contract with Sevilla FC, but the La Liga club are yet to make a decision on the matter.

After 18 years away, Ramos, then a free agent, returned to his boyhood club Sevilla last September, signing a contract until the end of the 2023/24 season. Despite Sevilla FC sitting 15th in La Liga, being eliminated from the Copa Del Rey and bottom of their Champions League group, Ramos has featured regularly for the Red and Whites this season. Spanish publication Relevo claims the 37-year-old wants a new lease, but with the club’s board not entirely on board with signing the veteran last year, a new contract may not be concluded.

Ramos, who spent 16 years at Real Madrid between 2005 and 2021 before joining Paris Saint-Germain two-and-a-half years ago, appears keen to continue playing despite turning 38 next month. It remains to be seen whether Sevilla FC will extend the stay of the former Spain international, who turned down a lucrative offer to join a Saudi Pro League club last summer.

The end of the odyssey?

After Sevilla FC’s 2-0 defeat to Athletic Bilbao in La Liga last month, Ramos interrupted a post-match interview to shout at a fan in the stands, accusing him of lacking “respect” before tell him “shut up and go away!” “.

Ramos’ Sevilla will resume competition on Sunday at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium, when they host Atlético de Madrid, fourth in La Liga, before traveling to Valencia, eighth in Liga, the following Saturday.
