Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has responded openly to Toni Kroos’ contract renewal plans.
The former Germany international is out of contract at Madrid at the end of the 2023/24 season and speculation is rife about his intentions to stay. Kroos has hinted that he wants to stay in Madrid and retire in the Spanish capital, but only if he maintains a consistent role in the Spanish capital.
His current contract expires at the end of the season and rumors are growing that he wants to sign a new 12-month extension. Kroos is happy with his first-team role in Ancelotti’s plans and he will be a key part in the coming weeks.
Ancelotti drops a clue
Ancelotti has insisted the decision will be made by Kroos and his family, but the Italian veteran has hinted he is confident the 34-year-old will extend his tie with Madrid amid rumors of the possibility that he will end his career this summer.
“It’s a decision he will make, at the right time and in the best way. If he were to retire in four months, he would have character, balls”according to Diario AS.
