Contested coach at PSG since taking office last summer, can Luis Enrique leave his post at the end of the season? The Spanish technician is (still) in Barça’s shortlist to succeed Xavi!

Two weeks after Xavi’s announcement of his departure from FC Barcelona at the end of the season, Luis Enrique is still cited by the coaches targeted by the Catalan club according to Mundo Deportivo this Friday (Rafael Marquez and Thiago Motta are, for example, excluded from consideration). The PSG coach would therefore have a possible exit in a few months if the season took a bad turn in the coming weeks…

Barça president Joan Laporta, however, seems set on the idea of hiring Hansi Flick. While Deco, the sporting director of the Blaugranas, was thinking of poaching Sergio Conceiçao from FC Porto. Laporta, for his part, decided to entrust the reins of the team to a German strategist who has already won the Champions League. But Flick is free from any contract, unlike Thomas Tuchel.

A decisive LDC course?

Luis Enrique is fully dedicated to the Parisian project offered to him by Nasser al-Khelaïfi and Luis Campos, the two decision-makers in the sports sector at Paris Saint-Germain. A rapid elimination in the Champions League could clearly put the former Barça coach in the hot seat and the latter would not say no to a return to Barça, with whom he won two Spanish championship titles and especially the C1 in 2016 .

The Spanish coach’s tactical choices have been debated among PSG followers for many months and the person concerned’s communication is always more difficult, while the leader of Ligue 1 is preparing to host Real Sociedad in the round of 16 of the LDC, next Wednesday at the Parc des Princes (before a return leg on March 5 in San Sebastian).
