At a press conference this Thursday, Hugo Ekitike returned to his failed stint at Paris Saint-Germain.
Recruited for 35 million euros by the Paris Saint Germain during the 2022 summer transfer window, Hugo Ekitike will never have succeeded in establishing itself in the French capital. After 32 matches played for four goals scored, the former Rémois was left out of the group by Luis Enrique and only played 8 minutes in the Parisian jersey at the start of the season. Sidelined since then, the striker decided to relaunch himself in Germany by joining Eintracht Frankfurt in the form of a loan with an option to buy.
“It was a lesson”
Physically struggling after almost six months without playing, the 21-year-old returned to his Parisian adventure at a press conference. “It all depends on how you take things. It didn’t work in Paris, it’s part of a career, it’s part of the choices, of certain things that happen. I’m taking my time in Paris in a good way. I never take things as a defeat. For me, it was a lesson, learning alongside great players”he explained.
The new Eintracht striker then spoke of Kylian Mbappé’s advice during and after his time in Paris. “Kylian Mbappé gave me a lot of advice. Afterwards, between the summer transfer window and my departure, it was more messages to tell me that it was my time and it was the time to express myself and to have fun, to play football and to find a group.
