FC Barcelona are looking for a new coach, although sporting director Deco said the club is not yet focused on finding a replacement for Xavi Hernandez.
Several names have already been proposed to the Blaugrana, but one of them is considered “the dream” by president Joan Laporta: Jurgen Klopp.
The Liverpool manager also announced in January that he would leave Anfield after nine seasons and take a year off. Despite this, some reports indicate that Laporta might try to convince him otherwise, and that he would go to any lengths to get it.
Klopp says no
However, Catalunya Radio reports that Klopp has made up his mind and will not be deterred from taking his one-year break. Whether Laporta calls him or offers him something, he will not be coach next season.
It’s not really a surprise. Klopp would find himself in a precarious situation, with Barcelona having little purchasing power and relying on youngsters. For someone lacking energy as Klopp claims, this is far from the ideal position at the moment, and he will be spoiled for choice moving forward.
