Dani Alves’ trial took place this week. The former FC Barcelona and Sevilla FC defender was accused of rape for an incident that occurred in December 2022.

The third day of the trial took place on Wednesday, and Dani Alves was among those who testified in court. After Alves’ testimony, the prosecution spoke as part of its response. According to Sport, although Alves paid 150,000 euros to the court, no damage was repaired. This is why it was requested that the Brazilian be sentenced to the maximum possible prison term for sexual assault, namely 12 years.

Before the trial began, the prosecution had requested a nine-year sentence for Alves if convicted. Ines Guardiola, Alves’ lawyer, said the aforementioned payment of 150,000 euros was intended to “repair the damage for which the mitigating circumstance is requested.” Alves has maintained his innocence throughout the case, which is expected to conclude on Wednesday.
