For several years, AS Roma has no longer been a credible candidate for the Serie A title. Worse still, La Louve no longer even fights for the Champions League and is a subscriber to other European competitions, like the C4 which it won in 2022 under the leadership of José Mourinho. Since then, the Portuguese technician has been dismissed after a more than sluggish start to the 2023-2024 season. However, having a very interesting squad, the Special One failed to find the right formula in the transalpine capital and was therefore dismissed on January 16.
The same day, AS Roma had already announced the successor to the 60-year-old coach. Indeed, after a failed adventure at SPAL, it was Daniele De Rossi, legend of the capital club, who was called to the rescue of his favorite team. A rescue mission on which the former midfielder jumped while some doubts accompanied his appointment. However, just four days after his return to the Stadio Olimpico, the 40-year-old tactician distinguished himself with a well-constructed success against Hellas Verona (2-1).
Daniele de Rossi found the right formula
From his 616 matches with Roma, Daniele De Rossi knows the club better than anyone and has been able to activate the right tactical and mental resources to change the face of his team. Victorious over Salernitana last week, the Roman club did it again last night by winning largely at home against Cagliari (4-0). A brilliant success which highlighted the great progress made by Romelu Lukaku’s teammates. With a convincing 4-3-3, Lorenzo Pellegrini and Paulo Dybala seem much freer to express themselves. A system which also benefits Leandro Paredes, who is reborn from his ashes in a sentry role that suits him wonderfully. Recruited at the end of the transfer window, Angelino was excellent on the left flank of the defense yesterday. Taken into confidence by De Rossi, they give it back to their coach.

The latter also expressed his joy this Monday at the end of his team’s brilliant victory: “I liked the match, I’m very happy. What I liked the most was seeing on the field the things that I had emphasized the most during this week full of training. I liked what I saw: in addition to the midfield, the defense too, which was attentive. We have to improve a lot of things, but I consider myself satisfied with this match. 8 goals scored, 2 conceded, three wins in three matches and a fifth place regained in Serie A. Daniele de Rossi’s return to Rome looks like a fairy tale at the moment. But now, the former Squadra Azzurra international will face his first big test this Saturday with the reception of the impressive leader of the transalpine championship, Inter Milan, this Saturday at 6 p.m. One thing seems certain: a great meeting awaits us between these two Italian behemoths who are in full swing!
