Raphael Varane could reunite with Cristiano Ronaldo again, as Al-Nassr looks to take advantage of his desire to leave Manchester United.
According to the Daily Star, the Frenchman has become “disillusioned” with the Mancunian club and will leave when his contract expires this summer. Saudi club Al-Nassr want to be at the front of the queue when Varane inevitably leaves and are reportedly prepared to offer the defender a £50m-a-year contract to lure him to the Middle East.
If Varane decides to change clubs, he will find Ronaldo. The pair were teammates at Real Madrid for five years and won four Champions Leagues together, before reuniting at United for Ronaldo’s second spell at Old Trafford. The Portuguese left at the end of 2022 after publicly denigrating the Red Devils. Since then, he has settled in well in the Gulf country, prompting a large number of Premier League stars to make the same choice.
Varane with Cr7?
Varane would not only be associated with Ronaldo at Al-Nassr. His former rivals Sadio Mané and Aymeric Laporte play at the Riyadh-based team, while his former teammate Alex Telles also moved last summer.
According to the report, the 30-year-old is annoyed by his lack of playing time this season, while frustrations with Erik Ten Hag have already been well documented. Varane could be required to play immediately on the pitch, if he is fit, following Lisandro Martinez’s recent knee injury.
