Opinions differ as to the purchasing power of FC Barcelona this summer and the deficit it will incur compared to its salary limit.
However, it seems clear that regardless of how much money they have, Barcelona will continue to strive to tap into the free agent market. One of their former targets, Adrien Rabiot, is one of the most high-profile players to be free from contract this summer.
The former Paris Saint-Germain midfielder has been in great form with Juventus for two years, after a difficult start in Turin. Negotiations for a new contract with the Bianconeri have not yet resulted in an agreement with Rabiot. And as reported by Esport 3, via Football Italia, the Blaugrana are once again interested in the former Parisian as a free player, after having courted him several years ago.
A necessarily late decision?
However, neither deal will be easy, with the highly demanding Véronique Rabiot involved – the player is only expected to make a decision towards the end of the season.
For Barcelona, two factors work against the obvious advantages of a quality player. Without Xavi Hernandez to sell the project to a player, the Catalans will lose a huge tool of persuasion.
