It’s a soap opera that’s becoming almost annual. Adrien Rabiot ended his contract at Juventus in June, having only extended his contract for one year on June 27. A good deal which is likely to present itself for a good number of European clubs, even if Juventus also has a serious chance of keeping it. Last December, the Italian press reported that negotiations were well underway for the extension of the 28-year-old midfielder, but since then, nothing new has filtered out.

Juventus therefore has reason to worry. Especially this season, the former Paris Saint-Germain player is particularly good, and notably displays 3 goals and 3 assists in 19 Serie A matches, being one of Max Allegri’s captains. There has recently been talk of interest from several clubs in his services, with Manchester United at the top of the list in particular.

A beautiful track

And this Monday, the Catalan press reveals the name of a new club which will not surprise you. As explained Esports3, the public sports television channel in the Spanish region, FC Barcelona is seriously considering going on the attack in this matter. Free, he is fully in line with the transfer window policy carried out by the club in recent years, aiming to enlist experienced players at a reduced price, even for 0€. A bit like the arrivals of Robert Lewandowski or Ilkay Gündoğan.

Especially since Barça needs reinforcement in the midfield; position that he already wanted to strengthen during this winter transfer window, without success. Adrien Rabiot would be an a priori less expensive option – you will still have to pay a signing bonus and a nice salary – than the players that Xavi wanted to enlist, like Martin Zubimendi or even Joshua Kimmich. To be continued…
