Arsenal ready to activate plan B while Mbappé at Real Madrid causes collateral damage.
Kylian Mbappe’s potential move from PSG to Real Madrid is set to have a knock-on effect at Arsenal, with Mikel Arteta’s side set to rethink their transfer strategy ahead of the expected game of musical chairs in the summer. Rumors in France suggest the trend is for Mbappé to leave PSG for Madrid on a free transfer this summer in a deal that will lead to a cascade of moves elsewhere. Arsenal are expected to be one of the teams affected.
Arteta had indeed considered a potential summer transfer for Xavi Simons, but it appears PSG are keen to retain the Dutchman to replace Mbappé. Arsenal recruiters have therefore turned their attention to RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko, according to Christian Falk.
Arsenal want Sesko
“Benjamin Sesko arrived in Leipzig this summer for 24 million euros. AC Milan is currently offering 40 million euros. Arsenal are also interested in the striker. He has an exit clause of 50 million euros,” writes Falk about a player under contract with the Bundesliga club until 2028.
The 20-year-old has long been linked with Manchester United due to his obvious physical qualities to play as a centre-forward in the Premier League, but Arteta will assess whether the young player is worth playing up his exit clause.
