Manchester City have been urged to swap Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic for Erling Haaland as the Serbian can also score ’50 goals per season’.
Former Italian goalkeeper Giovanni Galli, who played for AC Milan, Fiorentina and Napoli, believes Vlahovic offers “nothing less” than City star Haaland and if he played in a team more attacking than the Serie A club, the 23-year-old’s exploits would be just as stratospheric, as he told Tuttosport.
“I have a soft spot for Dusan. I have known him since his visit to Florence, he is extraordinary. He has everything. He has it all: determination, desire, physique and a deadly left foot. He is also very strong in the head. At the moment he is in good physical shape and he is the player we saw at Fiorentina. Physical problems plagued him for a year, but today he proves to be a champion. »
“Nothing to envy of Haaland”
“This may seem like a provocation, but it is not. If I were Guardiola and asked to swap Vlahovic and Haaland, I would do it. Dusan has nothing to envy of the Norwegian. He has to take advantage of every opportunity at Juventus because they don’t produce as many scoring chances as Manchester City. But Vlahovic still scored 12 goals. I would like to see him in a more offensive team. If he was at Manchester City, he would also score 50 goals per season, like Haaland, I’m sure.
While Haaland has not been as prolific as last season, when he scored 52 goals in 53 matches for Pep Guardiola’s men, his total of 19 goals this season is significantly higher than that of Vlahovic (12 goals for Juventus ). Additionally, Haaland has scored 226 goals in 276 matches, while the Serbia international has scored 87 in 220 career appearances.
Haaland, who has not played for almost two months due to a bone injury in his foot, could feature for City at Brentford on Monday evening. Vlahovic, meanwhile, is expected to start against Inter Milan in a summit match against Juve on Sunday evening.
