In apnea since the start of 2024 after having suffered three setbacks, Leipzig is finally giving itself some air. Facing Union Berlin this Sunday on the 20th day of the Bundesliga, Marco Rose’s players recorded their first success of the year (2-0). A little sigh of relief.

As in the last two meetings against Leverkusen and Stuttgart, Loïs Openda scored again, this time by opening the scoring (11th, 1-0) to score his 14th goal of the season in the Bundesliga. Returning from the locker room, it was the young Slovenian Benjamin Sesko who added to the score (48th, 2-0), before being denied a second goal a few moments later for offside (57th). With this success, Leipzig (36 points) consolidates its 5th place in the championship and remains in contact with Dortmund (37 points). Union Berlin, a nice surprise last season, is still not taking off and is stagnating in 15th place.
