Winner of Montpellier this Saturday, Stade Rennais continues its good series in the championship.
THE Rennais Stadium feel better. After a more than delicate first part of the season, the Bretons attacked the year 2024 in the best possible way. After beating OGC Nice and Olympique Lyonnais last week, Julien Stéphan’s men welcomed a Montpellier team which is dangerously flirting with the bottom of the Ligue 1 standings.
Rennes is on the rise
Full of confidence, the Rennais started off with a bang and opened the scoring in the 3rd minute with Martin Terrier, author of his 4th goal in the last three matches in all competitions. Just after halftime, Arnaud Kalimuendo allowed his team to make the break by converting a penalty. Despite Téji Savanier’s reduction in the score at the end of the match, Rennes achieved a fourth consecutive success in the championship.
The Rouge et Noir are 10th and are provisionally two points behind the European places while Montpellier is in 12th place and is only three points ahead of Lyon, currently in the play-off.
