Karim Benzema will stay at Al-Ittihad despite links with Manchester United and Chelsea.
David Ornstein of The Athletic reports that the 36-year-old will not leave the Saudi Pro League this month. The report adds that Lyon explored the possibility of a move for their former striker during the January transfer window, just six months after the veteran, who has also been linked with Chelsea and Manchester United, signed a three years with Al-Ittihad.
While Benzema remains at the Saudi club, the former Real Madrid player, who left the Spanish club in 2023, is reportedly not very comfortable in his new team. Ornstein writes that he went on vacation without permission earlier this month and returned late. Despite scoring 12 goals in 20 matches, the former France international was criticized by fans for his performances and appeared to delete his Instagram account. The Ballon d’Or winner should soon have a change of scenery this summer.
