CAN 2023, Mali invites itself into the quarterfinals

Mali is the 7th qualified for the CAN quarter-finals after dominating Burkina Faso (2-1).

For the 1^e time since 2013, Mali will participate in the quarter-finals of the African Cup. The Eagles obtained this privilege by going out to Burkina Faso in the round of 16 this Tuesday (2-1).

Mali does not want to stop there

Eric Chelle’s protégés did the hardest part before game time, scoring twice. First there was Tapsoba’s own goal (3^e), then Auxerrois Sinayoko doubled the lead in the 47th^e minute.

There was indeed a jump from the Stallions for the rest, but it was not significant enough to pick up the score. Bertrand Traoré reduced the score on a penalty in the 57th^e. Konaté then had two equalizing balls but collected them, to the great dismay of Hubert Velud.

In the next round, Mali will challenge Cote d’Ivoire. Kamory Doumbia and his teammates do not want to stop there. Their ambition is to go all the way and offer their country its first continental trophy.
