The FAF has just published a press release in which it confirms its separation from Djamel Belmadi.
Djamel Belmadi is officially no longer the coach of Algeria. While doubts remained about his fate, the local federation has just communicated on the subject this Tuesday evening, ensuring that his mandate is definitively over. The end was whistled unilaterally.
Belmadi accepted before leaving
“Guided by the desire to put an end to the spiral of renewed failures, it was agreed in Bouaké an amicable separation between the two parties. The coach who, initially, had agreed to this option, no longer followed it up. The FAF considers its silence and its departure from the national territory as a refusal and is forced to definitively turn the page and now plan on a new challenge with a new coach and a new technical staff who will be appointed soon. The federation has taken note of this regrettable posture and now reserves the right to draw legitimate consequences from it. It will act according to the protection of the major interests of national football.”
Belmadi, who returned to Qatar at the start of the week, is therefore officially fired. Given that no agreement has been reached concerning him, the technician will certainly bring the matter before FIFA.
As for his successor, many names of technicians are circulating. Among the favorites there is notably the former member of the house, Vahid Halilhodzic, and Vladimir Petkovic (former Switzerland coach).
