Paris Saint-Germain is preparing to live without Kylian Mbappé next season.
The France team captain is expected to make a decision on his future in the coming months as he nears the end of his contract in Paris. Mbappé has the option to extend his contract at Parc des Princes for another 12 months or accept a long-term offer from Real Madrid.
Leao targeted?
Los Blancos are confident they can strike a free transfer deal for the crack star, but nothing has been confirmed as of early 2024. According to Telefoot, PSG are working on options to replace the Bondynois, with the AC Milan striker Rafael Leao on their shortlist.
However, the Portugal international signed a contract extension at San Siro last summer and is tied to the club until 2028, with a €175m release clause. Mbappé’s departure would free up significant salary room for Leao, but PSG are unlikely to honor his clause in full. The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the best strikers in the Italian top division since joining Milan in 2019, with 41 goals and 28 assists in the league.
