Real Madrid will prioritize the transfer of a new defender in 2024, with Yan Couto a key target.

Los Blancos are rumored to be considering renewing their right and left-back positions next season in order to have long-term options. Dani Carvajal remains first choice on the right, but the club are considering signing Bayern Munich star Alphonso Davies to line up on the opposite flank.

Real aims for a second Couto

Davies’ situation remains unchanged, with the Canadian international out of contract in 2025, and Bayern Munich fighting to keep him in Bavaria. According to the latest information from Marca, Bayern’s offer includes a higher salary than that offered by Real Madrid.

However, a move for Couto, valued at €10 million, could be simpler, with the player on loan from Girona set to turn down a contract extension at Manchester City. Couto has never played for City, following his arrival in 2020, and his second loan spell at Girona has elevated his status, with the Catalans currently leading the title race. If Couto rejects City’s offer, Girona will make a permanent offer for the 21-year-old, but Real Madrid will counter this interest.
