Cape Verde got the better of Mauritania this Monday (1-0), extending its course to CAN 2023.

The only goal of the game was scored at the very end of the match on a penalty and was the work of Ryan Mendes. The former Lille player successfully transformed this set piece. The “Mourabitoons” may have regrets. They held firm throughout the match, before making a defensive error which was fatal to them.
The Cape Verdeans, however, did not steal their victory. If their first period had been sluggish, they bounced back after the locker room and were the most impactful. And this nice burst ended up paying off.
In the next round, Cape Verde will face the winner of the opposition between Morocco and South Africa.
