Karim Benzema will not join Chelsea in the January transfer window, transfer expert David Ornstein has announced, with the transfer expert revealing why the Blues are not interested in signing the former Real Madrid star.

Benzema is reportedly not very comfortable in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ittihad, where his professionalism has been questioned due to disinterested body language on the pitch and his late return from vacation. Consequently, the 2022 Ballon d’Or winner has been linked with a string of Premier League clubs, with Manchester United and Arsenal, as well as Chelsea, being linked with the 36-year-old French international striker.

Too expensive for Chelsea

With just days to go before the end of the January transfer window, it seems unlikely that a deal will be agreed for Benzema, with Ornstein revealing the rather surprising reason why Chelsea are not prepared to commit for him, as he reveals it in The Athletic: “ Rumors have linked Chelsea with Karim Benzema, but he has not joined the club. They plan to avoid costly moves for older players and prioritize emerging elite talents like Cole Palmer and Malo Gusto.”

Financing a transaction for Benzema, who receives sky-high salaries in Saudi Arabia, would be very complicated. Chelsea, however, need a prolific goalscorer. Nicolas Jackson has blown more cold than hot since his arrival at the club, Armando Broja is down, while he is compared to Harry Kane by manager Mauricio Pochettino.
