Kylian Mbappé is back in top form after a tumultuous summer, just in time for the return of the French national team against Ireland on Thursday, September 7, 2023 at the Parc des Princes stadium in Euro-2024 qualifying.
The captain has returned to the helm, reconciled with his club and cheered at his home field during Paris Saint-Germain’s victory against Lens. With two goals in that match, Mbappé is back in full command of his abilities.
Having scored four goals in two matches, Didier Deschamps believes that Mbappé’s role as captain has only added to his influence on and off the field. He is also competing for the top spot as the leading goal scorer in Ligue 1 this season.
Despite his recent success, Mbappé still has room to grow in order to match previous legends of French football. With 40 goals in 70 appearances for the national team, he is chasing Michel Platini’s record of 41 goals in 72 caps.
